#NewsStory: TDS Publishes a Tenant Fees Ban Special Edition of Letterbox

In this week’s #NewsStory, TDS’ Assistant Director of Business Development, Debbie Davies, discusses the new Special Edition of their magazine Letterbox.

With the Tenant Fees Ban and Deposit Cap legislation due to take effect in England on 1 June 2019, TDS has released a wealth of information for letting agents, landlords and tenants on what changes the impending legislation will bring and what people can do now to prepare and stay ahead of the game.

Early this month, TDS launched DepositCap.com, a unique one-stop-shop for all questions relating to the Deposit Cap.  This resource centre is bursting with unique tools and guidance, such as a unique Deposit Cap Calculator to ensure that letting agents and landlords correctly calculate the value of tenancy deposit can be taken on new or renewed tenancies after the 1 June 2019. TDS have also created a helpful Deposit Cap Guide, that you can download here.

In addition to this expansive information already available, TDS has release a special edition of its in-house magazine Letterbox which is filled with information about the Tenant Fees Ban including an article from TDS’ CEO Steve Harriott who discusses the background to the new legislation and outlines its impact on holding deposits, the tenancy deposit cap and the associated penalties for non-compliance.

By now, landlords, letting agents and tenants in England will all be aware of the Tenant Fees Ban coming into force on 1 June 2019.

When talking to our customers, either through our industry-leading Operations team, out meeting agents, through our social media pages, regularly published blogs and guides or at our TDS Academy training events, we’re receiving questions about how the Ban and Deposit Cap will affect them.

That’s why the latest edition of our Letterbox magazine is dedicated to the Tenant Fees Ban.

We’ve retained some of our regular features – Ask and Adjudicator10 Things, and What’s On – and included in-depth pieces on the implications of the Fees Ban for our customers and tenancy deposit protection.

In The Long Read, TDS’ CEO Steve Harriott discusses the background to the new legislation and outlines its impact on tenancy deposits, holding deposits and the associated penalties for non-compliance. It also contains a unique deposit calculator to help you stay on the right side of the law.

Our partner organisations, the Residential Landlords Association (RLA), ARLA Propertymark, and RICS are all useful points of information on the Tenant Fees Ban and its implications for the private rented sector (PRS).
