TDS Academy

Hundreds of delegates have already benefitted from our exclusive training event.

Join us for a full day course focusing on key points of tenancy deposit protection, designed specifically for property managers and administrators, inventory suppliers and landlords.

Delivered in a quiet environment, our presenters will take you through the timelines and requirements of tenancy deposit protection to help you avoid costly errors when it comes to registering a deposit.

The TDS Academy delivers expert guidance on the lifecycle of a deposit, from registration, repayment, through to the alternative dispute registration process. This will include how to confidently understand which deposit issues may already be resolved and what kinds of evidence you can prepare to save time and be more efficient should there be a dispute at the end of the tenancy.

You will have plenty of opportunity to ask questions, discuss scenarios and meet others involved in property management. Part of what past delegates have enjoyed is sharing and learning from each other's experiences!

You will gain 6 hours of Continued Professional Development (CPD), confirmed with a TDS Academy certificate.

The TDS Academy team are committed to delivering the day's program in a relaxed, friendly environment with plenty of refreshment breaks and a light lunch.

Be prepared, be professional, be TDS Academy trained.

TDS Tenancy Masterclass

This training material is designed to help you anticipate and head off problems that frequently arise at the outset of a tenancy. Often a problem lies undetected, only to be discovered when a dispute arises. Avoiding the problem in the first place can mean the difference between winning or losing a dispute. Being aware of potential problems will make you more effective in your role.

When you have completed this training course you should know and understand:

  • What basic checks you should carry out on potential landlords and tenants
  • The rules, penalties and common exemptions for immigration checks on tenants
  • What to ask for when seeking references – and how to interpret the results
  • Key data protection issues relating to your business
  • What limitations there are on how much you charge and when you ask to be paid
  • What can be a tenancy deposit, and what can't
  • When a deposit needs to be protected, and how to do that properly
  • Some essential points about drafting legal documents
About the trainer

This training is delivered by Hilary Crook, a lawyer and our legal advisor on tenancy deposit protection matters. This course is an extension of our popular TDS Academy training and we have tailored it based on feedback and questions from delegates.

Events are CPD recognised and a certificate will be issued.

Has there ever been a more unsettled time for both letting agents and landlords than the last few years?

Changes in legislation, the holding of deposits, consumer regulations, agents fees…the list is endless and no one in the profession is immune. From the junior letting agent to their employer, from the hobby landlord to those with substantial portfolios – everyone is affected. So, how in this ever-changing environment do you generate business, prove your expertise, build a solid future and stay on the right side of law?

TDS, in partnership with the awarding body Propertymark and the professional training provider MOL have the solution. The Level 3 Propertymark Award qualification in Residential Tenancy Deposits.
