Career Progression at TDS
We have many different ways in which the colleagues at TDS are able to better themselves and their careers. We have a dedicated yearly training budget that our colleagues have control over and can allocate this to training that they feel may be beneficial to them. This can be anything from learning technical skills needed such as advanced training on Microsoft or Sage packages that we use every day, or more personable and applicable skills such as dealing with difficult situations.
Throughout the year we have specialists coming in to help develop our workforce. A great example of this is our dealing with difficult people course. This gives a great overview of the correct way to help communicate with our customers effectively and efficiently. It is something here at TDS that we feel very strongly about, it is really important to us that our customers get the right information when they need it. There are very technical aspects of the business we are in, such as legal timeframes, etc, that are hard to get to grips with, so it is important we communicate coherently – which in turn helps us be a voice of authority in the private rental sector.
Many of our colleagues are holders of NFoPP Level 3 Technical Award in Residential Letting & Property Management - England & Wales. This is an industry recognised qualification that is essential for anyone working in the Lettings and Property Management industry. The course is made up of four units which comprise of General Law, Health, Safety & Security in Relation to Residential Letting and Property Management, Legal Aspects of Letting & Management, Residential Property Letting Practice and Residential Property Management Practice. This helps our colleagues gain a broad and comprehensive knowledge of the property management industry and helps us deal with our disputes effectively as we are confident in what we are doing day in, day out.
We were instrumental in writing and developing NFoPP Level 3 Technical Award in Residential Tenancy Deposit Protection and Management - England & Wales in association with PropertyMark. This award is a fantastic follow up to the NFOPP Level Three Technical Award in Residential Letting and Property Management. One of our colleagues Jamie Banner, who was the first person to complete the award, said, “It helps you further your knowledge in deposit protection and assists in helping you understand by giving you an insight into the way that our independent adjudicators make their decisions. I believe it would be beneficial to anyone that works with protecting deposits and dealing with disputes as it gives you an inside look at the full journey of the whole process”.
As our business grows, so does the scope of our colleagues. We regularly have different role openings that we encourage our colleagues to apply for. As we have a complex business there are many different departments to work in, ranging from Finance to Dispute Resolution. TDS is a company that you can come into at entry level and develop your career all the way to more senior roles. You just need to look at our workforce to see that.
