August: a good time to reflect and prepare

I don’t know about you but for me, I often feel like the year starts in September.  It is the start of the academic year, children are going back to school, and it’s a good time to start new initiatives.

So, stepping back a few weeks, August is a good time to reflect and take stock of where you are and where you are going.

One thing in particular you need to consider is your training requirements and whether you and your staff are fully up to date with the law.  There have been a lot of changes over the past 12 months, what with new regulations coming into force, with more on the way.

Free Information Services

It is very important that you become aware of things as they happen.  So the following free sites can help:

I also have a free Critical Information email service.

Face to face training events

So far as face to face training is concerned, for deposit issues, you can’t do better than the TDS Academy events.

For general legal training, my Easy Law Training company is running a Legal Update workshop on 20 October where housing barrister Sam Madge Wyld will be bringing you up to date with all the legal developments over the past 12 months – and flagging up changes in the pipeline.

This is a fantastic updating event – why not bring along all your staff?  It will be held at Homerton College in Cambridge.

If you rent or manage HMO properties, Easy Law Training’s popular HMO Law and Practice workshop will be taking place in Norwich on 8 December 2016.

Conference 2017

Finally, looking to 2017, the Landlord Law Conference (sponsored by TDS) will this year take place at the Sprowston Manor Hotel and Country Club just outside Norwich.
