TDS Northern Ireland Recognised For “Outstanding Contribution To The Private Rented Sector”

TDS Northern Ireland has been recognised for its achievements by the Chartered Institute for Housing, picking up the Chairman’s Award for outstanding contribution to the private rented sector.

In a glittering ceremony at Belfast City Hall, Managing Director Ben Beadle collected the honour at The Housing Awards 2015 where TDS Northern Ireland was praised for a “proactive and dynamic approach.”

It is the latest in a series of awards for the government approved scheme, which launched in 2013 to protect tenancy deposits and provide free dispute resolution. In November the scheme achieved the Customer Satisfaction Management Standard from BSi, and is also about to undergo another intense assessment to renew its Customer Service Excellence Standard status.

TDS NI is the only one of the three schemes with an office in Northern Ireland and it protects over 70% of the deposits registered; over 26,000 since its launch. It became a legal requirement for landlords and agents to protect new tenancy deposits with an approved scheme in April 2013.

Managing Director Ben Beadle said;

 “We are delighted to be recognised for our contribution by the Chair of the Chartered Institute for Housing.

“Tenancy deposit protection now provides essential security for tenants and access to dispute resolution. From our base in Belfast we have been on the ground to help tenants, agents and landlords see a smooth transition through an important step change. With a potential fine of £20,000 for non-compliance, our work and support has been especially valued by property professionals.

 “This award from the CIH is another assurance to tenants, agents, and landlords that TDS Northern Ireland is the first choice for tenancy deposit protection.”

CIH NI director Nicola McCrudden said “Congratulations to TDS Northern Ireland on winning the Chairman's award for excellence in the private rented sector. TDS has gone beyond their responsibilities and takes a proactive and dynamic approach to providing their service.”
